As is vividly betrayed in the drawing above, a newly-married couple are hugging each other happily and their parents are holding a huge amount of debt hardly. So what causes this phenomenon?From my point of view, there are mainly two reasons. First, with the promotion of “Family planning”, many families have one child only, which makes the child so spoilt that they are used to the high quality life. Second, many children has the psychology of comparison, which makes them have the wish to hold a luxurious wedding ceremony.In order to solve this problem, children should develop the virtue of thrifty.

As marriage is a lifetime matter, it will not be changed because of their wedding ceremony is luxurious or not. So they should refuse luxurious wedding ceremony. Futhermore, parents should not spoil their children by satisfy their all demands. I think under the joint effort of parents and children, the ethos of keeping up with the joneses will be decreased significantly

For over a decade, the craze of Chinese college graduates taking qualifying examinations to become civil servants has remained unabated. An important proportion of graduates view civil service as their top priority in job selection and they spare no efforts in preparing for those examinations, sometimes years before their graduation.

To some extent, this craze is a modern revival of the ancient notion that “those who excel in academics end up in officialdom.” In the present-day China, however, there are complicated reasons underlying this phenomenon. The jobs in sectors other than civil service are insecure and unstable, and employees have to work under greater stress faced with growing competitions in the workplace and the industry. Some government departments are related to monopolized industries and civil servants can enjoy unusually high salaries and welfare benefits. Finally, government officials are usually regarded as occupying the highest rung of the social hierarchy and a student who succeeds in becoming government official is considered the pride of the family, adding prestige and glory to the entire clan.

For all the apparent attractions of the officialdom, the craze of entering the civil service is a distorted one. In the United States, truly ambitious students enter the industry instead of civil departments, where they apply their individual initiative to achieve personal success. Education plays a very important role in the modernization of our country. The modernization of our country calls for the modernization of education in advance. However, the development of education is by no means balanced all over the country. In some poverty-stricken areas, a surprisingly large number of school-agars cannot afford to go to school. As a result, the Project Hope is initiated to promote education in those areas.

This project, in my eyes, is necessary especially in two respects. For one thing, if children cant gain access to education, the lack of human resources will be inevitable, and how can we hope to get rid of illiteracy and poverty? For another, at present it is beyond the ability of our government to provide enough money for so many school dropouts. The project hope accepts donations from organizations, enterprises and individuals, and then distributes the fund scientifically and reasonably to those in need of help.

My suggestion is that all of us who have the financial ability join in the Project to help those school-agers. Only when all of us extend the helping hands can we hope to modernize our education and our nation.

Many people appreciate the conveniences of the city. The city offers a wide choice of jobs for adults and schools for children. It also provides plenty of facilities for culture， entertainment and recreationrestaurants， department， stores， cinemas， and so on. Besides， transportation is usually well developed in the city， with a variety of modes of travel， including buses， trains and subways.

In the country， on the other hand， one can enjoy the advantages of fresh air and food， and a more relaxed life style. Housing is usually spacious and inexpensive in the country. And， as for recreation， what could be more relaxing than a stroll down a country lane amid beautiful scenery? However there are advantages to living in either the city or the country. City air tends to be polluted， and the streets are always crowded and noisy. In the country， on the other hand， the lack of stimulating activities can make a person feel bored and isolated.

All in all， I would say that living in the city is best， for the convenience the city offers in terms of education and work; after all， one can always spend vacations in the countryand get the best of both.?
